St. Louis DSA has a number of committees engaged in work centered on a wide range of issues. Committees generally meet about once a month to give updates on their work, explore new plans of action, and delegate work for the coming month.
Afrosocialist and Socialists of Color Committee
The Afrosocialist and Socialists of Color Committee advocates for and builds power with DSA’s Black/POC membership and their communities. We pursue this work to help build a multiracial working-class base, the only viable strategy for securing a socialist future. Through public and internal education and agitation, we aim to continue the legacy of the Black radical tradition, as well as the radical traditions of other oppressed minorities. Our goal is to act as a network that will support and develop non-white DSA members as leaders in the organization
Co-chairs: Alicia Hernandez and Cyndey Johnson
Next meeting: July 4, 6:30PM
Meetings are regularly held on the first Wednesday of the month at Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (3611 S. Grand Blvd)
The main goal of the Community Committee is to foster a sense of camaraderie and friendship among the members of St. Louis DSA. This is done through scheduling socials and other get-togethers, by helping out other comrades who are experiencing the inevitable crisis that happen both under capitalism and life in general, and through discussions to help us understand further how communities are put under constant attack by things like work and social alienation, attempts to divide us among racial, gender and country of origin.
Chair: Kyle Baker
Next meeting: TBD
Meetings are regularly held on the third Sunday of the month
Criminal Justice Reform Committee
The Criminal Justice Committee explores possibilities of what criminal justice can and should be from a socialist perspective, then applies that philosophy to local criminal justice issues, ideally working with other, simpatico groups who have the same goal.
Co-chairs: Chris Bergh and Mitch Eagles
Next meeting: June 30, 6:30PM
Meetings are regularly held on the last Monday of the month at Tick Tock Tavern (3459 Magnolia Ave)
The Electoral Committee administers the affairs of the Local in regards to electoral politics — specifically in regards to candidates and ballot initiatives — as well as oversees the implementation of the endorsements and organization of the chapter’s electoral efforts. The committee is open to anyone interested in electoral politics, and seeks frequent collaboration with other committees in solidarity towards achieving shared goals.
Chair: Ben Conover

The Environmental Committee is dedicated to implementing a socialist approach to working on climate issues in order to ensure that the needs of humanity’s survival at put ahead of the greed of the few in power at local, state, and national levels.

Meetings are regularly held on the first Tuesday of the month at Tick Tock Tavern (3459 Magnolia Ave)

The Labor Committee works to connect the DSA with the labor movement, and to bring DSA union members together to help build a class struggle network in our unions.
Co-chairs: Dave May and Spencer Corning
Next meeting: June 21, 7PM
Meetings are regularly held on the third Thursday of the month at the World Community Center (438 N Skinker)
The purpose of the outreach committee is to build a presence for the chapter in local left coalitions and spaces, develop and educate our members in fundamental political organizing skills, and push STL DSA toward opportunities to implement what we have learned — both from ourselves and others — to grow working class power in the area.
Chair: Christopher Ottolino
Next meeting: June 14, 7:15pm at SEUI-HC Office (5585 Pershing Ave)
Political Education Committee
The Political Education Committee serves as a vehicle for members to learn and discuss theory and history through discussions at our regular meetings and our monthly Reading Groups. In addition, we attempt to provide political education and avenues for comradely debate through panels and forums.
Chair: Josh Lucker
Next meeting: July 5, 6:30PM
Meetings are regularly held on the first Wednesday of the month at Gelateria Del Leone (3197 S. Grand Blvd)
Socialist Feminist Committee
The Socialist Feminist Committee of STL-DSA recognizes that a socialist movement must be feminist and a feminist movement must be socialist. We emphasize socialist feminist perspectives in our theoretical and practical work within the organization, and we strive to incorporate feminist perspectives into the socialist movement in general. We invite our comrades to join us each month for political discussions and educational events related to socialist feminism, and we welcome opportunities to collaborate on projects with other committees and organizations working toward a socialist feminist future.
Chair: Britta Thornton
Next meeting: June 10th, 4PM
Meetings are regularly held on the third Sunday of the month at 3203A S. Grand Blvd
The Technology Committee fights for a socialist future where technology serves people, not capital. We advocate for a free and open internet as a vital element in building our democracy and society, rather than a tool used to grow and maximize profits. The committee also maintains STL DSA’s technical infrastructure.
Chair: Paul Graham
Next meeting: June 26, 7PM
Meetings are regularly held on the fourth Tuesday of the month, via Google Hangouts
