Abortion Access Fund-a-Thon Has Been Extended!
This past week, the National Network of Abortion Funds announced that they were extending the Abortion Access Fund-a-Thon! While STL DSA’s Socialist Feminist Working Group has already raised more than $8,000 in funds and achieved top-team status for Missouri Abortion Fund’s campaign this year, this extension means there’s still time to make a donation to those who need abortions and supportive care and help our team stay in the lead.
Remember, these funds directly support abortion seekers in Missouri, as well as Missourians seeking abortions throughout the United States. As abortion access is increasingly under attack at the local, state, and federal levels, it is more important than ever to join the fight for reproductive justice.
Join the Fight to Pass the PRO Act
The fight to pass the PRO Act continues. Congress is currently debating the passage of the PRO Act, which if passed, would be one of the most consequential pro-labor bills since the New Deal.
Currently, DSA has a massive phone banking campaign going on to apply pressure to Congress, but we need extra help! DSA needs to raise funds to keep phone banking moving, so if you can afford to do so, please donate here. If you want to help out by making calls, please sign up for a phone-banking shift here.
Communications Committee Elects New Co-Chairs and Commits to 2021 Goals
Multiple new co-chairs were elected at the March General Chapter Meeting, including Katie Davis and Konstantin Podleski as the two new Communications Committee Co-Chairs.
Both the co-chairs and the larger Communications Committee membership have committed to these goals for the 2021 year:
- Streamline and reorganize the processes by which STL DSA members can submit requests and stay informed about ongoing projects. This will include a new communications request form and a new content calendar.
- Prioritize bringing more STL DSA members into the committee and engage more with them on what types of projects they want to be involved with, how they most want to contribute, and any additional skills they want to learn.
- Put more emphasis behind social-media efforts and recruit more committee members to help on this front.
- Work to become more proactive in STL DSA’s approach to communications, developing a foundation by which the committee can both work on requests and on more creative endeavors.
If you have any interest in joining or helping out with the Communications Committee and its goals this year - whether through social media, graphic design, writing, editing, PR work or anything else - please reach out to Katie and Konstantin at email@example.com.
