If you haven’t already done so, make sure toregister for tomorrow night’s meeting here, so you have the information you need to join the Zoom call.

Show Me $15 and a Union Event

We stand with the workers at McDonald’s and Show Me $15 in their fight for a livable wage and a union. Thank you to all members who came out and stood in solidarity with McDonald’s workers last Wednesday.

Register Now for this Summer’s Socialist Night School Series!

STL DSA is launching a summer school edition of the Socialist Night School!

We’ll be meeting every other Tuesday night from 7 - 8:30 pm, CDT, over Zoom from June 1 through July 27. This night-school series is intended to create a climate of political discussion, comradely debate, and shared understanding. Our classes will provide a unique educational atmosphere — one detached from the dominant, competitive for-profit model and rooted in the political struggles of working people. Everyone is welcome to come to any of the sessions. Please feel free to invite family and/or friends, as well.

Each night school event will come with short readings to help ground our discussions. Here’s the lineup, below. Click on the weeks you want to attend, and then RSVP!

Week 1 on June 1 — Actually Existing Capitalism: Anatomy of a System in Crisis

Week 2 on June 15 — Race & Class

Week 3 on June 29 —  What is Ideology?

Week 4 on July 13 —  Theories of Social Change

Week 5 on July 27 — Socialist Futures

In addition to the series, we’re looking for both Organizers and Facilitators for Socialist Night School:

Being an organizer is simple: the goal is moving people to show up! This means doing the outreach work necessary to get people to attend and become invested in Socialist Night School. Basically, if you sign up as an organizer, you'll be responsible for emailing, texting, calling, and messaging folks who have indicated they're interested in attending.Sign up to become an organizer here.

Being a facilitator entails doing the reading ahead of time and helping lead breakout groups during the class. We are hosting a Facilitation Training TONIGHT, from 7 - 8 pm, CDT, to go over details of how to facilitate these breakout sessions, as well as answer any questions you have. Please RSVP here if you have interest in being a facilitator.

Join the Socialist Feminist Working Group’s Book Club!

STL DSA’s Socialist Feminist Working Group is launching a book club and wants you to join! If you haven’t yet, register a free account on, so you can participate.

Book orders will be made, and we’ll be sending out more information soon!

Last Week for the Abortion Access Fund-a-Thon!

It’s the LAST WEEK to donate to the Abortion Access Fund-a-Thon to help people seeking abortions and supportive care. This means it’s your last chance to sign up for a phone-banking shift here to the STL DSA Socialist Feminist Working Group team, so team members can raise even more than the more than $8,000 collected so far.

Let’s end this Fund-a-Thon season strong! Donate what you can to help abortion seekers in Missouri, as well as Missourians seeking abortions throughout the United States.

Take Part in the Fight to Pass the PRO Act

The fight to pass the PRO Act continues. Congress is currently debating the passage of the PRO Act, which if passed, would be one of the most consequential pro-labor bills since the New Deal.

Currently, DSA has a massive phone banking campaign going on to apply pressure to Congress, and its most recent goal is to hit 1 million calls by the end of May. But we need extra help!

If you want to help out by making calls, please sign up for a phone-banking shift here.

2021 DSA Convention: Pre-Convention Conferences; Deadline to Self-Nominate to Be a Delegate is TOMORROW

DSA’s 2021 Convention, “From the Ashes of the Old: Socialism for a New Tomorrow,” is online-only and takes place Sunday August 1, through Sunday, August 8.

Those wanting to self-nominate to be a delegate at the national convention must do so before the May Chapter Meeting TOMORROW evening, May 25.

All members in good standing can both register to attend one of the many pre-convention conferences, as well as self-nominate to be a delegate representing STL DSA at the national convention. At this time, there are only two remaining pre-convention conferences that have not yet closed their registration — those scheduled for Saturday, June 12, and Sunday, June 13.

Note, you don’t have to be a convention delegate to attend a pre-convention conference.
