TOMORROW! April Chapter Meeting & Committee Co-Chair Elections!
Tomorrow evening, April 27, is our April Chapter Meeting, and it’s not one to miss! We have quite a few important matters we’ll be covering throughout the event.
We’ll go over our usual reports, but we’ll also cover the delegation process for the upcoming National Convention, discuss the PRO Act campaign, and most importantly, we’ll hold our Committee Co-Chair Elections.
Here’s a list of everyone running in these elections:
- Political Education Committee: Sarah C. and Matt B.
- Technology Committee: Tyler S.
- Communications Committee: Katie D. and Konstantin P.
- Community Committee: Jason S.
Each candidate has significantly contributed to the development of these committees. Review their completed questionnaires here to learn more about each of these candidates and their visions for these respective committees. Each candidate will speak during the meeting tomorrow, as well as be ready to answer a few questions.
Voting will actually take place at tomorrow’s meeting, so plan to attend and have your vote counted.
Of course, you have to be a member to vote—so, if you’re not yet a member, join DSA now!
Donate or Phone Bank for the PRO Act & Help Strengthen Organized Labor
Let’s face it. Neoliberalism has significantly weakened the labor movement over the last few decades. The good news is that Congress is currently debating the passage of the PRO Act, which if passed, would be one of the most consequential pro-labor bills since the New Deal.
Currently, DSA has a massive phone banking campaign going on to apply pressure to Congress, but we need extra help! DSA needs to raise funds to keep phone banking moving, so if you can afford to do so, please donate here. If you want to help out by making calls, please sign up for a phone-banking shift here.
Join Us for a Socially Distanced May Day Event this Weekend
May Day, also known as International Workers’ Day, has a long history as a day of commemoration and celebration for the working class. As socialists, we want to continue this tradition and meet up to celebrate May Day, especially after more than a year of being distanced, alienated, and without community.
Join us on Saturday, May 1, in Tower Grove Park at 2 pm, for a socially distanced May Day picnic. STL DSA will be grilling and providing food and refreshments, but anyone who attends can bring their own food or refreshments (just no glass bottles please). We’ll also have options for vegetarians/vegans and can accommodate other dietary needs, as requested (just let us know!).
Feel free to bring along friends and/or family members, including kids! It will be an all ages-appropriate event. We just ask that you RSVP and note any additional guests on your RSVP, as the city of St. Louis is still restricting gatherings to 50 people or less. Once you RSVP, someone from STL DSA will reach out to you before the event with more details about the exact location within Tower Grove Park.
We look forward to celebrating on May Day with you!
Help SocFem Surpass $7,500 in Funds Raised for Abortion Access by Joining the Team!
STL DSA's Socialist Feminist Working Group is organizing for the annual Abortion Access Fund-a-Thon. They have already raised more than 30% of the Missouri Abortion Fund-A-Thon goal!
The team is now less than $300 away from surpassing $7,500 in funds raised for abortion access. Please create your fundraising page and/or donate to one of our team members, and help us continue making a tremendous difference for Missourians who need access to abortions and supportive care.
Attacks on abortion are attacks on the working class. Please, make a fundraising page to help us in this fight.
