STL DSA is launching a summer school edition of the Socialist Night School!
We’ll be meeting every other Tuesday night from 7 - 8:30 pm, CT, over Zoom from June 1 through July 27. This night-school series is intended to create a climate of political discussion, comradely debate, and shared understanding. Our classes will provide a unique educational atmosphere — one detached from the dominant, competitive for-profit model and rooted in the political struggles of working people. Everyone is welcome to come to any of the sessions. Please feel free to invite family and/or friends, as well.
Each night school event will come with short readings to help ground our discussions. Here’s the lineup, below. Click on the weeks you want to attend, and then RSVP!
Week 1 on June 1 — Actually Existing Capitalism: Anatomy of a System in Crisis
Week 2 on June 15 — Race & Class
Week 3 on June 29 — What is Ideology?
Week 4 on July 13 — Theories of Social Change
Week 5 on July 27 — Socialist Futures
In addition to the series, we’re looking for both Organizers and Facilitators for Socialist Night School:
Being an organizer is simple: the goal is moving people to show up! This means doing the outreach work necessary to get people to attend and become invested in Socialist Night School. Basically, if you sign up as an organizer, you'll be responsible for emailing, texting, calling, and messaging folks who have indicated they're interested in attending. Sign up to become an organizer here.
Being a facilitator entails doing the reading ahead of time and helping lead breakout groups during the class. We are hosting a Facilitation Training on May 24 from 7 - 8 pm, CT to go over details of how to facilitate these breakout sessions, as well as answer any questions you have. Please RSVP here if you have interest in being a facilitator.

First, thanks for re-electing me! I appreciate that! Second, I want to reiterate the goals of the Community Committee.

Keep Our Fund-a-Thon Team in the Lead!
Last week, the National Network of Abortion Funds announced they were extending the Abortion Access Fund-a-Thon, and they continue to accept donations for those seeking abortions and supportive care. While STL DSA’s Socialist Feminist Working Group has already raised more than $8,000 in funds and achieved top-team status for Missouri Abortion Fund’s campaign this year, this extension means there’s still time to make a donation.
Remember, these funds directly support abortion seekers in Missouri, as well as Missourians seeking abortions throughout the United States. As abortion access is increasingly under attack at the local, state, and federal levels, it is more important than ever to join the fight for reproductive justice.
Take Part in the Fight to Pass the PRO Act
The fight to pass the PRO Act continues. Congress is currently debating the passage of the PRO Act, which if passed, would be one of the most consequential pro-labor bills since the New Deal.
Currently, DSA has a massive phone banking campaign going on to apply pressure to Congress, but we need extra help! DSA needs to raise funds to keep phone banking moving, so if you can afford to do so, please donate here. If you want to help out by making calls, please sign up for a phone-banking shift here.
