Congratulations to two of our endorsed candidates, Matt Davis for St. Louis Public Schools School Board and Dr. Megan Green for alderwoman of the 15th Ward, for winning their elections last week. Unfortunately, our third endorsed candidate, Emily Hubbard, lost her bid for the School Board, but we are grateful for her platform to protect public schools from privatization. We are proud of each of our endorsed candidates and we look forward to working with all of them in the future.
Demand the PRO Act to Strengthen Organized Labor
Neoliberalism has significantly weakened the labor movement over the last few decades, but Congress is debating passing the PRO Act, which would be one of the most pro-labor bills since the New Deal. DSA has a massive phonebanking campaign going on to apply pressure to Congress, but we need extra help! DSA needs to raise funds to keep the phonebanking going, so if you can afford it, please donate. If you want to help out with phonebanking, please sign up here.
Interested in leading one of our committees? Nominate yourself here!
We are currently accepting nominations to lead our Communications, Community, Political Education, and Technology committees. If interested, please apply here and the Executive Committee will follow up shortly with a questionnaire. At our next chapter meeting, all interested candidates will be invited to give a short speech and answer questions from members, with electronic election to follow the meeting.
Help SocFem Surpass $6,200 in Funds Raised for Abortion Access by Joining Their Team!
STL DSA's Socialist Feminist Working Group is organizing for the annual Abortion Access Fund-a-Thon. They have already raised over 30% of the Missouri Abortion Fund-A-Thon goal!
The team is now less than $300 away from surpassing $6,500 in funds raised for abortion access. Even better, we still have about a month and some change to fundraise, so please create your fundraising page and/or donate to one of our team members, and help us continue making a tremendous difference for Missourians who need access to abortions and supportive care. Attacks on abortion are attacks on the working class. Please, make a fundraising page to help us fight.
