What's New
Next Monthly Drop-in on April 12!
Drop-ins are a great way to learn more about DSA, find out about our chapter’s priorities and hang out with other comrades.
New Member Orientation
Are you a new member looking to get more involved? Are you not yet a member but ready to learn more? Join us for our New Member Orientation. Food and drinks will be provided during the event. Masks will be required when not eating or drinking.
2023 DSA Convention: Applications Open for Delegate Nominations
This August, the national DSA organization is holding its biennial convention! As a local chapter, we get to send a number of delegates to represent St. Louis DSA, and applications are now open.
Convention is the most important decision-making event for DSA, where we set national priorities and elect our 16-person leadership body, the National Political Committee.
Any member in good standing may apply to run for delegate (if you are unsure about your membership status, reply to this email to ask the Executive Committee).
The DSA Convention will be held Friday, August 4, through Sunday, August 6, in Chicago (exact location TBA), and both the chapter and national organization will be able to provide assistance, so cost is not an obstacle to attend. Applications will remain open until end-of-day on Tuesday, April 25, and we will have a delegate Q&A followed by elections coming up at our May Chapter Meeting.
Donate to Our Fund-a-Thon Team!
Our chapter is participating in Fund-a-thon, benefitting Missouri Abortion Fund!
Abortion is now completely banned in Missouri, so MOAF’s work to make abortion accessible to Missourians is more crucial than ever.
We’re now at $2,182 in funds raised for MOAF, and we are the leading fundraising group in Missouri! Help us keep our lead, as we work to surpass $2,300 in funds raised for abortions and supportive care.
Donate and/or make your own fundraising profile at fund.nnaf.org/stldsa23.
Hang with the Labor Committee at the Farmers’ Market! Upcoming Meeting & EWOC Opportunities
Kick off spring with DSA Labor at the Tower Grove Farmers’ Market! We’ll be hanging out in the park to talk to community members about the labor movement and organizing. This is a great way to hang out with comrades and do outreach at the same time. Plus, you can even pop over and buy some fresh spring produce!
EWOC
For anyone who hasn’t heard, our Labor Committee is now an official EWOC chapter. This builds upon our current workplace organizing priority and connects us to a larger network of labor organizers around the country who are helping workers form unions across all industries.
If you’re interested in helping workers organize their workplaces, then you can become an EWOC organizer. Reach out to the Co-Chairs at [email protected] to learn more about what that entails and how to get trained up!
Labor Committee Meeting
We’ll be talking about all our upcoming April events, discussing our Teamsters Strike Ready resolution and more.
Socialist Night School, Session 4: Future Labors: TONIGHT!
Join us for our fourth Socialist Night School class about future labors and how, after so many historical setbacks, workers can organize and build power moving forward. We’ll be meeting for this fourth and final class TONIGHT, April 4, at 6:30 pm. We’ll be in the North Parish Hall at Trinity Church.
Note: It doesn’t matter whether you’ve attended past classes in the series or not - each of these are standalone sessions.
Because this is an in-person event, please make sure to wear a mask.
Find more info and RSVP here. We hope to see you this evening!
